5 Tips for Cold & Flu Season

As temperatures get colder and playdates move indoors, seasonal illnesses begin to spread a little quicker. Cold and flu season has arrived. It's always best to have the right items on hand to plan ahead in case the little ones come home feeling under the weather. Here are a few tips to help caregivers better manage this challenging time of year.

Consider these tips and Dreambaby® products to help get you ahead of the seasonal colds:

#1: Start the day with a healthy meal

Providing your child with a healthy meal not only gives them enough energy to focus, but it also helps to maintain their immune system, which is vital to fight off nasty bugs. Finding quick, healthy snacks/meals on the go can be a little challenging, but with our Pouch Pal, you can give your child their favourite food pouch before school to ensure they have all the nutrients they need to start the day and leave the car mess-free!

#2: Stock your medicine cabinet

It could be a cabinet behind your mirror, a drawer up high in the kitchen or a first aid kit you carry with you on the go. The medicine cabinet is your first go-to in times of illness, and sometimes it may get a little bare. Be sure to stock up on items that each family member may need to help with a speedy recovery. Always make sure to keep medicines out of the reach of little ones.

#3: Have the right devices on hand

The last thing you want to be doing when you, your child or spouse end up getting the flu is making a late-night run to the drugstore for supplies. Be sure to have Thermometers on hand to check their temperature in seconds quickly accurately. Our Medicine Set is a great item for dispensing medicine quickly. It includes a medicine spoon with a dropper, a medicine syringe and a dropper for convenience. Lastly, a Bath & Room Thermometer is helpful to ensure bath water and room temperature are just right to help make bath time a relaxing experience in preparation for bedtime.

#4: Prepare for outdoor activities

If you live in a colder climate with snow and harsh weather, we have no choice but to embrace winter!

It’s important to bundle up with extra layers before heading outdoors and staying active during those colder days. We recommend bringing our Stroller Weather Shield to help keep your baby dry and protected from rain, wind, snow, sleet, and insects while you're enjoying the outdoors.

#5: Wash your hands frequently

It’s always important to wash your hands thoroughly after entering or leaving public areas and beyond. Washing our hands helps to clean away unwanted germs, limiting the spread to other people. Remember to bring your hand sanitizer when running errands and avoid touching your face as much as possible, especially when you’re out and about.
